Infineon Launches XENSIV™ TLE4971 Family of Automotive Current Sensors

Infineon XENSIV™ TLE4971

Neubiberg, Germany–(Newswire) November 17, 2022 — Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Lee Seung-soo) announced on the 17th that it has launched the XENSIV™ TLE4971 family of current sensors for vehicles.

These 3.3V products are the next generation of the TLI4971 device and are offered in a TISON package with an integrated current rail and are available in four current settings (25A, 50A, 75A and 120A). Combining advanced sensing with a compact design, it is suitable for automotive applications such as on-board chargers (OBC), high-voltage auxiliary drives, and charging applications, as well as industrial applications such as electric vehicle DC chargers, industrial drives, servo drives, and PV inverters.

Infineon’s XENSIV TLE4971 uses a unique temperature and stress compensation function to enable precise magnetic current detection and does not suffer from hysteresis or saturation effects, which are the problems of conventional core-type current sensors. Applying the differential sensing principle, no core or shield is required to be unaffected by external stray fields. Additionally, these sensors are suitable for applications employing wide bandgap solutions such as gallium nitride (GaN) or silicon carbide (SiC). By integrating EEPROM, users can select the sensor’s overcurrent detection (OCD) value and deglitch filter to suit their needs, depending on the use case.

The small PG-TISON-8-5 package enables a compact design for a variety of applications. A minimum insertion resistance of 220µΩ and an inductance of less than 1nH lower system losses to improve efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, the package features high dynamic range, high surge current and advanced thermal performance. For automotive use, it fully meets AEC-Q100 Grade 1 up to 125°C and provides improved output accuracy. To support industrial applications, all products are available in standard and UL certified versions.
