U.S. Department of Defense maintains stance on ‘contacting North Korea-Russia arms trade’

The U.S. Department of Defense said it maintained its position that there were signs of contact between Russia and North Korea in relation to the allegation that Russia was pursuing arms purchases from North Korea.

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said at a briefing on the 22nd local time that he was “maintaining the information we had previously provided”.

A spokesperson for Ryder previously said on the 6th that there were signs that Russia had contacted North Korea for ammunition.

However, in a statement from the deputy director general of the Ministry of Defense’s Equipment General Bureau, North Korea countered that “we have never exported weapons or ammunition to Russia, and we have no plans to do so.”
